Can young people
really put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ?
A young girl
grew up in a home where no one was interested in God. No one was pushing her
to pray and read the Bible. On Sunday she didn’t have to go to church.
But she began to
think about God. She wanted to know about God.
So she asked if
she could go to Sunday School. She went to all sorts of places: the local
Catholic church and with a group of Mormons.
Eventually she
went to an ordinary church in Green Lane, Liverpool. It was Bethel Church. It is still there today. In that church she heard the pastor teaching, she went
to Sunday school and went to the Girls’ Brigade.
Many times on a
Sunday she couldn’t go. Her family went off to the seaside, or to visit other
members of the family. Her younger sister started to go with her to church
too.
She wasn’t being
told what to believe at home. She listened to what the Bible said, and she
began to believe. She knew she had done wrong. She heard that Jesus was the
Saviour. The Bible teaches that he took the penalty for the sins others have
committed. The good news is that whatever we have done wrong, Jesus’ death is
enough to deal with it before God.
As she grew into
a teenager she had some difficulties to go through. Her parents did not get
on well together and this led to them being divorced. Her mother had an
illness that made her an invalid.
There were real
and painful problems, but she had Jesus as her Saviour and as a close friend
who cared for her in these troubles.
You can meet her
if you come the church. Ask anyone who’s there if they know someone who grew
up in Liverpool. They will introduce you straight away!
Just as that
young person trusted the Lord Jesus so can you.
